HYPERTAC'S High Power Quick Release ConnectorsWednesday, September 26, 2007 HYPERTAC
HBB - HIGH POWER QUICK RELEASE CONNECTORS GREATER POWER IN A SMALLER SPACE The HBB range is a high power, quick release connector specifically designed for coupling power cables to boxes where performance is key, space is at a premium, signal / power integrity is paramount and quick disconnect is needed for swift in-service maintenance / retro-fit. Environmental pressures are driving the need for better performance from electric and hybrid vehicles. The new generation of eco-friendly electric cars must match the high performance of their petrol powered equivalents. For electric vehicles, more performance essentially means more current, relevant for both higher power and greater efficiency. Traditional connector systems are already at the limit of their performance capability. In addition, vehicle sub-frames with extreme spacial constraints are calling for more complex electrical power systems. Handling higher current across wiring and connector systems without increasing the weight and assembly costs is a conundrum for designers. The call for higher power requires the connector to handle anything between 300A & 1000A (continuous). Up until recently, there were limited connector solutions available in the marketplace able to get close to these challenges. The HBB advantage of “greater power in a smaller space” offers benefits across multiple markets including aerospace, defence, mass transit, industrial, test and measurement, marine, auto-sport etc. The Hypertac HBB series of connectors is available in single pole 300A / 500A / 750A and dual pole 300A. Housed in metal or high strength composite shells, the cable exit can be either straight or right angled, in both cable or panel mount configurations. Based on Hypertac’s proven Hyperboloid contact technology the HBB series is designed to reduce wear rates generated from shock, vibration and fretting which are common causes of system failures and downtime.
